Household Grocery List
The Shop tab is a shopping list that mostly writes itself: plan the week's dinners in Plan, and every planned meal's linked ingredients are aggregated into the list. Days marked eating out are skipped, so restaurant nights never inflate the shopping.
Everyone in your household sees the same list and the same checkboxes, live.
How amounts are calculated
Ingredient needs are totaled across every planned meal for the week, then translated into what to buy using each food's pack info (set on the food — see serving vs. pack):
- Pack items round up to whole packs — need 700 g, buy 16 oz bags → "2 packs".
- Loose items show the total amount to buy.
- Staples (oil, spices, rice) show as "check stock" instead of a quantity.
- Foods stored cooked but bought raw can carry a yield factor so the list shows the purchase amount, not the cooked amount.
If a planned ingredient's unit can't be reconciled with its food, it's flagged on the list rather than silently dropped.
Weeks
The list is organized by week — the current week first, then any future weeks that already have meals planned. Each week's header shows a Copy button that puts the list on your clipboard as plain text, handy for sharing or a store's pickup app.
Extras
Anything that isn't driven by the plan — paper towels, the one-off ingredient — goes in Extras. Add items with the input at the bottom; remove them with the ×. Extras keep their own checkboxes and a Reset to uncheck them all for the next trip.
Checking off
Tap an item to check it off; it stays visible with a strikethrough so you can uncheck a mistake. Checkbox state is shared across the household — two people can shop the same list from two carts without buying things twice.
If the list won't load
A failed load is shown as exactly that — never as an empty list — so a tap can't accidentally overwrite the household's real list with nothing. Check your connection and retry.
